There are just too many kinds of auto parts out there, but in terms of their condition or how they are built, they are classified into 5 parts: the exterior and the body, the electrical parts, interior, power-train and chassis and the miscellaneous parts. Here’s what you need to know about them, in a nutshell.

Electronic auto parts consists of most anything that can be wired, from the power lock mechanism to your automatic transmission, car radio, rear back up system and the list goes on. Interior parts are those involving your actual seats, the cup moldings, the steering wheel, mirrors etc. Essentially anything that you can see inside the car that does not fall under any other category falls under “interior”. Air bags, floor components, storage areas and even the seat belts are under this category.

Power-train and chassis refers to the engine that powers your car and everything else that is involved in making those wheels turn, and the processing the gasoline. There is also the transmission and suspension mechanisms to consider.

Lastly, the miscellaneous is for anything that does not fall under any of the four categories mentioned above. So this may involve the wipers, your bearings, air conditioning down to the hoses that you need to cool down your car engine.
